Operation Broadstone

This was a Allied deception operation designed to facilitate the first but unsuccessful attack of Lieutenant General J. L. I. Hawkesworth’s British X Corps on the 'Gustav-Linie' defences in southern central Italy by threatening an outflanking of the defences' western end on the Tyrrhenian Sea by means of an amphibious landing by one US Army regimental combat team (October/November 1943).
