Operation BW

'BW' was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route between Sydney, Nova Scotia, and St John’s, Newfoundland (September 1942/May 1945).

The first of these 188 convoys was BW.1 of 11/13 September 1942 with the 3,724-ton British Empire Tyne, 3,918-ton British Fylingdale, 1,243-ton Norwegian Gulhaug, 5,633-ton British PLM-27, 7,546-ton Canadian Rose Castle, and Collidhale. The last was BW.182 of 26/28 May 1945.
