'Carter Paterson' was a British deception operation, which was only partially successful, to pass to the Germans a fictitious minefield chart and in the process boost the bona fides of 'Tate', a German agent who had been captured on arrival in the UK and turned into a double agent whose career lasted to May 1945 (December 1942).
