The 'Erika-Schneise' was a German position on the Volkhov sector of the northern part of the Eastern Front from the forest of Mostki to the north and north-west of Spaskaya Polist in the south to Novgorod Chudovo on the railway to Leningrad in the north (winter 1941/42).
