Operation Kestrel

'Kestrel' was a British attack by a three-man Norwegian party of the Special Operations Executive on the Fosdalen iron ore mines in northern Trøndelag in German-occupied Norway (16 September 1942).

This plant had received machinery from Germany and 'full support for an increased rate of production'. It was successfully attacked on 5 October and production was reduced by 25% for two months. After its attack the party escaped to Sweden.
