Operation Munassib

'Munassib' was a British deception of the double-bluff type in the final days of the approach to the 'Lightfoot' initial stage of the 2nd Battle of El Alamein (October 1942).

Clearly fake artillery was emplaced in the southern sector of the British line and then replaced by obviously real artillery, backed by dummy staging points for the British 10th Armoured Division, in the hope of persuading the Axis forces that the main blow of Lieutenant General B. L. Montgomery’s offensive was to be launched on the southern part of the front.
