Operation TCU

'TCU' was the designation of Allied military convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from the Caribbean (later New York) to Liverpool in the UK, and as such the military counterparts of the 'UC' merchant series and reciprocals of the 'UCT' series (May/August 1944).

These were in effect 14-kt 'CU' convoys of tankers, fast merchant ships and a small number of troopships. The first of these seven convoys was TCU.23 of 3/14 May 1944 with 51 merchant vessels and 13 escorts, and last was TCU.34 of 11/22 August 1944 with 50 merchant vessels and 12 escorts.
