Operation Astrakhan

'Astrakhan' was a British special forces amphibious reconnaissance operation for 'Sunstar' (12/13 November 1941).

The raid on Houlgate and Les Hemmes on the north coast of German-occupied France was undertaken by four men of No. 101 (Folbot) Troop of No. 6 Commando. The party encountered no Germans, but did secure useful intelligence about local beaches suitable for the beaching of landing craft.
