'Bamboo' was a British unrealised scheme to take the Kra isthmus in southern Thailand by means of an amphibious landing at Hastings Harbour near Victoria Point in southern Burma and thence a drive to the east, thereby cutting off the Japanese forces in Malaya from all sources of overland supply and reinforcement, and thus facilitating the eventual 'Zipper' task of reconquering Malaya (March 1945).
