Operation Blimey

'Blimey' was a British special forces operation to parachute a party of the 2nd Special Air Service into the Rossano area of German-occupied northern Italy on a raid (5 April 1945).

Some 24 men were dropped into Rossano on 6 April 1945 with the task of assisting the final Allied push in north-western Italy by sabotaging German lines of communication and generally making a nuisance of themselves. The party had excellent ground support, detailed intelligence about the area and adequate weather conditions, but in fact achieved very little before being caught up in the Allied advance.
