Operation Bottle (i)

'Bottle' (i) was a British naval air operation to lay mines in Norwegian waters (18 May 1940).

The operation was undertaken by aircraft operating from the fleet carrier Glorious, which was operating in Norwegian waters with the fleet carriers Ark Royal and Furious as part of the Royal Navy’s commitment to the defence of other British warships operating in these waters and to the support of the ground forces operating in Norway. Three days later Glorious landed her Gloster Sea Gladiator single-engined biplane fighters to operate from shore bases and returned to Scapa Flow in the Orkney islands group to load new aircraft.
