'Brutmachine' was a German minelaying operation by coastal minecraft in the Morskoi Canal, which had been built during the last quarter of the 19th century in shallow water between Gutuyesky and Kanonersky islands to provide access to what was, during the Soviet era, Leningrad (24 April 1943).
A victim of this operation was the submarine Shch-323, which struck one of the mines on 1 May of the same year and sank.
