'CA' was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) steaming to the south from Cape Town, South Africa, for dispersal (December 1942/June 1943).
The first of the series was CA.1 of 5/7 December 1942 with the 7,019-ton British British Princess, 7,590-ton Norwegian Egero, 6,759-ton Norwegian Kristianiafjord and 7,191-ton US William Grayson, and the last was CA.20 of 9/11 June 1943 with the 8,063-ton British City of Calcutta, 8,036-ton British City of Edinburgh and 7,529-ton British Clan Forbes.
