Operation Caiman

'Caiman' was an Allied support operation for 'Overlord' in the form of the air delivery of weapons, ammunition and supplies to the French resistance forces operating in the rear of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel’s Heeresgruppe 'B' in the northern part of German-occupied France (June 1944).

To aid in what was hoped to be an increasing level of confusion at German headquarters and in the German rear areas, the plan was also designed to simulate a major Allied airborne landing in the rear of Heeresgruppe 'B'.
