Operation Coronel I

(naval battle off the coast of Chile in World War I)

'Coronel I' was a U-boat wolfpack operation in the North Atlantic (8/17 December 1943).

The wolfpack comprised U-92, U-284, U-311, U-364, U-392, U-421, U-471, U-544, U-625, U-629, U-653, U-672, U-741, U-744, U-761, U-960, U-972, U-976 and U-981, and for the loss of Oberleutnant Klaus-Dietrich König’s U-972, for no known reason, sank no ship.
