Operation Cricket (i)

'Cricket' (i) was a British and Free French unsuccessful naval undertaking to extricate from Vichy France their Enigma codebreaking personnel (especially Polish) who were now under threat after the German seizure of Vichy France in 'Anton' following the Allied 'Torch' landings in French North-West Africa (3/4 December 1942).

The party was to have been collected from a cove near Le Trayas near Cannes, but the operation had to be abandoned after it was learned that the cove was being guarded by Italian troops.
