'Curtain' was a British naval bombardment of Japanese positions between Indin and Mayu Point in the Arakan western coastal region of Japanese-occupied Burma (March 1944).
This was the last undertaking by the launches of the Indian navy’s 55th Motor Boat Flotilla (ML-439, ML-441, ML-476 and ML-477) and 56th Motor Boat Flotilla (ML-412, ML-416, ML-417 and ML-419), and the South African navy’s 49th Motor Boat Flotilla (ML-380, ML-381, ML-382 and ML-846) before the advent of the wet monsoon ended the fighting season of early 1944.
The three forces proceeded independently to their own objectives. A number of fires were started up and down the coast, although little opposition was encountered apart from a certain amount of sporadic machine gunning from the shore.
