'Divorce' (ii) was an Allied unrealised air plan to destroy the bridges over the Reno river, flowing through north-eastern Italy from the Apennine mountains to the Adriatic Sea, and thus prevent the flow of supplies to General Traugott Herr’s 10th Army of Generaloberst Heinrich-Gottfried von Vietinghoff-Scheel’s Heeresgruppe 'C' on the front facing Lieutenant General Sir Richard McCreery’s British 8th Army, and at the same time complicate the German formation’s retreat in the event that 'Buckland' proved successful (spring 1945).
