'Eagle' (ii) was a US special forces operation to parachute a three-man Office of Strategic Services team into German-occupied northern Italy to help co-ordinate local resistance and partisan groups in an effort to block the Brenner Pass as this was one of the primary German logistics routes connecting southern Germany and northern Italy (3 August 1944 onward).
