Operation Eclipse (i)

'Eclipse' (i) was an Allied contingency plan, initially known as 'Rankin' and then as 'Talisman' (i), designed for implementation in the event of a German military collapse in North-West Europe following the successful launch of 'Overlord' (November 1944).

The reoccupation of the Channel Islands group and Norway was specifically excluded from this plan, which was therefore directed solely at the mainland of continental Europe and, more specifically, the manner in which the occupation of Germany was to be undertaken.
