'Esme A' was a British diversionary movement during the capture of Madagascar after 'Ironclad', taking the form of an advance by Brigadier G. T. Senescall’s South African 7th Motorised Brigade from Ambilobe, just to the south of Antsirane in northern Madagascar, during the capture of Majunga by Brigadier F. W. Festing’s British 29th Independent Brigade Group (10 September 1942).
