Operation Euclid

(Greek mathematician of 4th/3rd centuriesy BC)

This was an Allied one of several amphibious warfare exercises (summer and autumn 1943).

‘Euclid’ was a British undertaking during August and September 1943 by Major General Harry O. Curtis’s 49th Division of Lieutenant General J. T. Crocker’s I Corps at Kilbride to consider aspects of air and naval co-operation in the landing of ground forces on a hostile shore. No troops were landed.
