Operation EW (i)
'EW' (i) was a British naval minelaying operation in the Heligoland Bight (2/3 January 1940).
The destroyers Intrepid and Ivanhoe departed Immingham to countermine a German minefield in the Heligoland Bight, and seven destroyers of the 1st Destroyer Flotilla, based at Harwich, patrolled the same area to provide cover for the mining operation.
