'EX' was the British movement of the fleet carrier Formidable from the Clyde river in western Scotland and the battleship Nelson from Scapa Flow in the Orkney islands group to Rosyth in eastern Scotland for repairs (19/20 September 1942).
The two major warships were escorted by a number of destroyers including, from the Clyde river the destroyers Shikari, Zetland and Free Polish Błyskawica, and from Scapa Flow the escort destroyers Blean and Whaddon.
The three destroyers and two escort destroyers then covered the passage of the fleet carrier Victorious and battleship Rodney from Rosyth to Scapa Flow.
