'Exploit' was the Allied tactical deception for the 'Flashpoint' crossing of the Rhine river in western Germany by Lieutenant General William H. Simpson’s US 9th Army (21 March/1 April 1945).
Supported by 'Viersen', 'Exploit' was based on a simulated build-up of the US forces in the sector of Major General Alvan C. Gillem’s US XIII Corps to suggest a crossing at Uerdingen, whereas the real crossing was to be in the sector of Major General John B. Anderson’s US XVI Corps in a sector farther to the north.
