'Fell' was an operation undertaken by the US Army Air Forces to recover and transport to Italy a small number of Allied prisoners of war liberated from the Germans by the Yugoslavs (21 September 1944).
In this undertaking, two Douglas C-47 twin-engined transport aircraft of the 15th Army Air Force, escorted by eight North American P-51 Mustang single-engined fighters of the 325th Fighter Group, took off from Italy to land on an airfield in Yugoslav hands, collect the freed prisoners and fly them back to Italy.
