Operation Heuschober

hayrick

'Heuschober' was a German operation by the 370th Regiment (kroatisch) of Generalleutnant Georg Reinicke’s 369th Division (kroatische) with the object of capturing the high ground around the village of Lise, an important stronghold area in the defence of Mostar, from the partisan forces of Marshal Josip Broz Tito in German-occupied Yugoslavia (19 December 1944).

The partisans lost the Jara and Biogradica peaks, and the operation was little more than an operational test for this newly formed Croat-manned German formation, and after satisfactory results had been gained the more ambitious 'Mars' (iv) undertaking was launched.
