'Invective' was a British naval operation by elements of Admiral Sir Henry Moore’s Home Fleet to sweep part of the Leads off the west coast of German-occupied Norway and, in the absence of shipping to attack, bombard a radar station (17/18 April 1945).
The ships involved were the destroyers Savage, Scorpion, Scourge and Zambesi, which were supported on their return passage to Scapa Flow by the light cruiser Birmingham. The destroyers encountered no shipping and undertook a gunfire bombardment of German coastal searchlights.
