Operation JV

'JV' was a British special forces attack by two men of No. 101 (Folbot) Troop of No. 6 Commando against 5,500-ton bulk ore carrier in Boulogne harbour on the north coast of German-occupied France (11/12 April 1942).

Entering the harbour in a Folbot Mk I canoe after being transported across the English Channel by a patrol vessel, Captain G. Montanaro and Sergeant Preece planted a limpet mine on the carrier’s hull and then escaped, despite tearing the rubberised fabric of their canoe, without being detected.
