Operation Kedgeree

'Kedgeree' was a British sub-component of 'Ration' (17/25 August 1941).

The Australian heavy cruiser Australia and British heavy cruiser Hawkins were ordered to search for a Vichy French convoy which had been reported as departing Tamatave, Madagascar, on 12 August. Australia and Hawkins departed Durban, South Africa, to search for the convoy, which comprised the 10,172-ton Ville d’Oran, 7,473-ton Linois, 6,672-ton Dalny, Lepari and 7,707-ton Sagittaire, but failed to locate the Vichy French ships.
