Operation Leander (ii)

(Greek mythological heroine)

'Leander' (ii) was the British undertaking to start the redeployment of forces, equipment and supplies from the UK to Australia, largely for Admiral Sir Bruce Fraser’s Pacific Fleet and the planned 'Tiger' redeployment of assets of Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Harris’s RAF Bomber Command, as the end of the war with Germany approached and the focus of British operational planning started to switch increasingly to the prosecution of the war against Japan (October 1944 onward).
