'Lot' was a British two-part special forces operation to parachute a 14-man part of B Squadron, 1st Special Air Service, into the Poitiers area of German-occupied France to sever a railway line on the route by which German formations could otherwise have been delivered most easily from south-west France to reinforce the German forces opposing the Allies in the 'Overlord' lodgement in Normandy (10 June 1944 onward).
