Operation Milan II

'Milan II' was an Allied unrealised operation for an airborne landing to secure the crossing of the Rhine river in the Koblenz and Neuweid area of western Germany (September 1944).

The operation was to have been based on the use of Major General Matthew B. Ridgway’s US XVIII Airborne Corps of Lieutenant General Lewis H. Brereton’s Allied 1st Airborne Army for a landing designed to facilitate the Allied crossing of the Rhine river by Lieutenant General George S. Patton’s US 3rd Army.
