Operation MKF

'MKF' was the designation of Allied fast military convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from North Africa via Gibraltar to Liverpool or the Firth of Clyde, and as such reciprocals of the 'KMF' series (November 1942/June 1945).

The first of these 57 'Mediterranean to the UK Fast' convoys was MKF.1 of 12/15 November 1942, only days after the 'Torch' landings, with an unknown number of merchant vessels escorted by the British destroyers Velox and Wishart and escort destroyer Zetland. The last was MKF.45 of 4/8 June 1945 with 11 merchant vessels and five escorts.
