Operation Newmarket

This was a British unrealised plan for a naval attack on the U-boat facilities at Kilbotn near Narvik in the north of German-occupied Norway (3 April 1945).

Under the command of Rear Admiral R. R. McGrigor, the British force comprised the escort carriers Puncher, Queen, Searcher and Trumpeter, light cruiser Birmingham, light anti-aircraft cruiser Bellona, and destroyers Carysfort, Offa, Onslow, Scorpio, Scourge, Zambezi, Zealous and Zest.

The undertaking had to be cancelled as a result of adverse weather.
