'Oakleaf' was an Allied deception in Italy designed to convince the Germans that the winter offensive of Lieutenant General Mark W. Clark’s Allied 15^th Army Group had not been called off and was in fact to be launched imminently (January 1945).

The object was to persuade the Germans not to withdraw formations from their front line strength in order to assemble a major reserve force.
