'Omega' was a US deception based on the 'story' that the forces made available by the elimination of the Ruhr pocket would now be used for an offensive straight to Berlin, and thus persuade the Germans not to move forces to southern Germany (17/25 April 1945).
To achieve this end a major build-up of the forces behind Lieutenant General William H. Simpson’s US 9th Army was simulated, the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force contributed a major report from the double agent 'Gilbert', and other double agents such as 'Blaze' and 'Lazy' sent the Germans reports of major US forces moving toward the front directly to the west of Berlin.
With the German army in the final stages of disintegration and defeat, however, it is likely that 'Omega' had little impact, indeed any impact at all.
