Operation PA (ii)

'PA' (ii) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical and sometimes a literal suffix) plying the route from the ports of the Persian Gulf to Aden (September 1942/February 1945).

This 'Persian Gulf to Aden' series began with PA.1 of 9/18 September 1942 in which the 7,229-ton British Algonquin, 3,553-ton British Destro, 3,664-ton Panamanian El Segundo, 8,645-ton US Malabar, 8,013-British Miralda and 6,214-ton British Sepia steamed from Bandar Abbas, Iran, to Aden, and the last of the series' 88 convoys was PA.84 of 5/11 February 1945 in which the 6,683-ton US Exchequer steamed from Basra, Iraq, to Aden.
