The 'Panther-Bewegung' was the German withdrawal into the 'Panther-Stellung' (i) defences along the Dniepr river, in the area of Smolensk and Vitebsk, on the Eastern Front by the formations of Generalfeldmarschall Günther von Kluge’s Heeresgruppe 'Mitte' (15/20 October 1943).
