Operation Pendant

'Pendant' was a British landing by Brigadier R. C. Cottrell-Hill’s Indian 36th Brigade of Major General C. E. N. Lomax’s Indian 26th Division within Lieutenant General Sir Philip Christison’s Indian XV Corps on Sagu Kyun island, off the southern corner of Ramree island, during the 'Matador' (iii) battle for Ramree island in the Arakan western coastal region of Burma (30 January 1945).

At this time the brigade also relieved the Royal Marine commando force which had occupied Cheduba island, to the west, in 'Sankey'.
