'Playmate' was the Allied deception plan to cover the final offensive of General Mark W. Clark’s Allied 15th Army Group in northern Italy by promulgating the 'story' that the offensive was to start later than in fact it did, and also that Bologna was to be outflanked from the east by the British 'Buckland' rather than from the south by the US 'Craftsman' (March/April 1945).
The undertaking somewhat later than had been planned, and is thought to have had little effect on the Germans.
