Operation Probation

'Probation' was a British unrealised plan for three-stage operation to retake Rangoon, the capital of Burma, from the occupying Japanese forces (1943).

The plan also included as a pair of sub-operations the recapture of Akyab island, in the Arakan western coastal region of Burma, by the Indian 14th Division: these sub-operations were the 'Canny' overland attack and the 'Nibble' amphibious assault.
