'QL' (ii) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route along the Queensland coast from Brisbane to Townsville, Australia, and as such reciprocals of the 'LQ' series (July 1943/February 1944).
The series began on 4/7 July 1943 with the QL.1 convoy of the 3,116-ton British Aroona, 7,194-ton US Benjamin Bonneville, British Edna, 1,213-ton Dutch Generaal Verspijk and 5,681-ton US West Cactus, and ended, after 66 convoys, with the QL.56 convoy of 16/19 February 1944 with two vessels in the form of 258-ton coastal transport APc 5 and 8,602-ton British Empire Silver.
