Operation Quentin (i)

'Quentin' (i) was the British naval operation to sever the telephone cables connecting the UK with the German-occupied Netherlands (24 May 1940).

British ships cut the cables between Lowestoft, Benacre and Aldeburgh on the British east coast and Zandvoort and Domburg in the northern Netherlands. The forces involved were the destroyers Gallant, Jackal, Jaguar and Javelin and the sloop Puffin screening the minesweeping trawlers Cape Melville, Grampian, James Lay, Milford Princess, Milford Queen and Pelton, which had also been used in the similar 'Quixote'.
