Operation QWC

'QWC' was a British operation against German warships and shipping in the harbour of La Spezia on the north-west coast of occupied Italy (22 June 1944).

The British lost two chariot (human torpedoes), but the British and Italian frogmen involved attached charges to the ex-Italian heavy cruisers Gorizia and Bolzano as well as the 4,780-ton steamer Savagana, all of which sank after the charges had detonated and holed them.
