Operation Rosebud

'Rosebud' was an Allied deception operation by ground forces' radio equipment within 'Fortitude South II' (21 July/17 August 1944).

The deception was designed to persuade the Germans of the reality of Lieutenant General George S. Patton’s fictitious US 1st Army Group massing in south-eastern England for a descent across the Strait of Dover on the Pas de Calais in north-eastern France.

Associated operations included 'Vanity I', 'Vanity II', 'Honeysuckle', 'Viola I', 'Viola II', 'Viola III', 'Haircut', 'Jitterbug', 'Mustache', 'Film Star', 'Frank' and 'Nan'.
