'Saarhechen-Stellung' was a German extemporised defence position designed to combine natural defensive features, portions of the 'Ligne Maginot' defences and portions of the 'Westwall' defences to aid General Otto von Knobelsdorff’s 1st Army of General Hermann Balck’s Heeresgruppe 'G' in checking any thrust into the area of Saarbrücken by Lieutenant General George S. Patton’s US 3rd Army of Lieutenant General Omar N. Bradley’s US 12th Army Group (late 1944).
