Operation Samara

(Russian city)

'Samara' was a German unrealised plan to improve the start line of General Rudolf Freiherr von Roman’s XX Corps of Generalfeldmarschall Walter Model’s 9th Army within Generalfeldmarschall Günther von Kluge’s Heeresgruppe 'Mitte' in preparation for 'Zitadelle' (28 May/22 June 1943).

The plan envisaged a shortening of the German line in the area of Berezovka, was adopted with the revised designation 'Walzertraum' (ii), but was finally cancelled on the instruction of the Oberkommando des Heeres on 22 June.
