Operation Sampler

This was a British unrealised naval undertaking to locate and sink German shipping in the Leads between Sildegabet and Bradsmund just off the west coast of German-occupied Norway (1/5 January 1945).

The ships involved were the escort carriers Nairana and Trumpeter, heavy cruiser Berwick, and destroyers Carron, Obedient, Onslaught, Orwell, Zealous and Zest. The operation was abandoned because of adverse weather.
