'Scavenger' (ii) was the US overall designation of bombing attacks by General Henry H. Arnold’s 20^th AAF from bases on the islands of the Mariana islands group against Japanese installations on Iwo Jima and the other islands of the Bonin islands group farther to the north in preparation for 'Detachment' (September 1944/February 1945).
